Robert Penn Warren (April 24, 1905 - September 15, 1989) was an American poet and novelist.

Life

Warren was natural inside Guthrie, Kentucky and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1925 and a University of California, Berkeley in 1926. He late attended Yale University and obtained his B. Litt. at Oxford University in England in 1930. He died inside 1989.

Career

Piece however an undergrad at Vanderbilt, he became associated by using a class action of poets there referred to as a Fugitives, and somewhat down a road, in the period of the early 1930s, Warren and a select few of the equivalent writers formed a class action called the Southern Agrarians. He contributed "The Briar Patch" to the Agrarian manifesto ''I'll Require Our Have along by owning Xi more Southern writers & poets (including fellow Vanderbilt poet/critics John Crowe Ransom, Allen Tate, and Donald Davidson).

Warren won a Pulitzer Prize in 1947 for his best known act, a novel All the King's Men. He won Pulitzer Prizes witharound poetry in 1958 for Promises: Verse form 1954-1956, & around 1979 for Okay, so. All the King's Men became the super successful film inside 1949. Within 1981, Warren was selected as a MacArthur Fellow and later wwhen known as as a foremost U.S. Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry on February 26, 1986. Warren was joint author, by having Cleanth Brooks, of Understanding Poetry, an influential literature textbook (which was followed by more likewise coauthored text edition Understanding Fiction and Modern Rhetoric'') written from either what may be known as the New Critic approach.

Around April of 2005, a United States Postal Service issued a commemorating stamp to mark a Centesimal day of remembrance of Penn Warren's birth. Introduced at a Post Professional withwithin his native Guthrie, it depicts andy skinner when he appeared in the 1948 exposure, by having the background scene of a political rally designed to evoke the setting of ''All the King's Men. His boy & girl, Gabriel & Roseanna Warren, were attending.
